Monday 16th December – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington Marina – mainly cloudy.

Foil – 19.11 knot max, 17.16 knot ave, 10.26 knot hour, 15.26 knot mile, 36.10 km., 14.07 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After going to Levington yesterday hoping for a windsurf foil but the wind did not play ball so headed home and had a wonderful day with the Granddaughter the lovely Maeva, I hoping for a reasonable session today as the last decent foil was on 29th November! I arrived at the marina around 9.30 with Ian aready setting up and we were joined by 4 more wingers! The wsw breeze, not the best direction here looked marginal at best but I set up my board hoping for the breeze to fill-in which it did a little so I took a chance once more with my 6.5 which proved OK for three quarters of the time on the water as the wind was its usual gusty self! With the wingers heading upriver towards Pin Mill I stayed on the corner hoping to do long runs down to the docks, sadly I only made it that far once as the wind was particularly gusty down there! But the best wind seemed to be on the corner where I got loads of good runs and gybes. I ended up only once in the water when I hit a mooring bouy in front of the marina, sadly it has been put on too short a rope and disappears beneath the surface at high water, very dangerous indeed! I was out over two hours not getting cold at all but with the wind going even more patchy it was time to call it a day and head to the showers where I meet Mag arriving at the marina on her bike for lunch, the first time on her bike for ages!

PS - chuffed to get a pic on About Anglia, got to love Chris Page:)
